If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know we’re big fans of Jack Brown’s Burger and Beer Joint in Birmingham, AL. It’s one of our favorite burger spots — we eat there often. I’ve gone back multiple times in a week because the food is that good.

Jack Brown’s is in the Lakeview neighborhood of Birmingham, just off Red Mountain Expressway near St. Vincent’s Hospital.

This place really is a joint — small and cozy with a handful of tables and lots of bar seating.
Most tables are high-top bar tables seating four, with one low table in the window.
They also offer outdoor seating and are dog friendly, which is a nice bonus.

Jack Brown’s boasts an impressive beer list — well over 100 craft options. We’ve tasted several beers and ciders there; the selection is a highlight of the experience.
They even have a “100 beers” club for guests who sample many of their offerings; last time we saw patrons wearing the club shirts.

The atmosphere has fun touches — like a disco ball — that add to the casual, lively vibe.

The burgers are outstanding. My personal favorite is the Cowboy — a burger topped with BBQ sauce, cheese, and bacon. It’s simple and delicious.
Their fries are excellent as well: perfectly cooked and crispy without being burnt.

Another shot of the Cowboy — I usually choose the sweet potato fries, which are some of the best I’ve had.
Burgers are served on Martin’s Potato Buns, which add a soft, slightly sweet texture that complements the patty — similar to the buns used by Shake Shack.

The “Jack On Piggy Back” features a burger topped with a split, griddled hot dog, pickled jalapeños, and cheddar cheese — a creative, indulgent option.

The Shocker packs heat with fresh jalapeños, habaneros, pepper jack, and their shocker sauce — it’ll clear your sinuses and make you sweat. It’s a favorite for anyone craving serious spice.

The Greg Brady comes topped with house-made mac and cheese and Martin’s BBQ potato chips. It was surprisingly tasty — next time I’d add bacon and BBQ sauce for extra depth.

The Chiflet features applewood smoked bacon, egg, and cheese — it’s an absolute favorite of my dining companion, and a great choice for breakfast-style cravings.

One Sunday special was a burger with egg, cheese, and hash browns served on a grilled doughnut. It sounds over-the-top, but it was surprisingly tasty — not something I’d order every visit, but worth trying once.

You can’t leave Jack Brown’s without trying a Fried Oreo — they’re amazing and the perfect way to end a meal.

Seriously — the Fried Oreos are a must-try.
