Why Aldi

I don’t work for Aldi and have no affiliation—just a long-time shopper who values the convenience and affordability they offer. After years of hopping between stores for bits and pieces, I learned to craft recipes using only Aldi ingredients. That approach saves time and money while still allowing for tasty, nutritious meals.

These meal plans are meant to be practical: healthy dinners, one-pot recipes and simple baking. They’re great as a weekly guide or a source of inspiration for low-cost family meals.

About the Aldi budget meal plan

Meal planning has been part of my life since childhood. Growing up in a single-parent household on a fixed income taught me to buy only what we needed and to avoid waste. Combined with formal chef training and a decade in professional kitchens, I’ve learned how to stretch ingredients and create satisfying meals from modest resources.

This meal plan reflects that experience. I provide six recipes using ingredients available at Aldi, plus a shopping list and a tip sheet so you can get the most out of each meal. The plan offers flexibility: take a takeaway night, use leftovers for lunches, or swap days to suit your schedule.

The Details

The recipes are scaled to serve a family of four, with several dishes producing leftovers suitable for a second evening or next-day lunch. While no single plan fits everyone, this one aims to be widely useful and adaptable.

The shopping list is comprehensive and covers everything needed for the week. Because the plan uses only Aldi products, many condiments and spices repeat across recipes—check your cupboards first to avoid buying duplicates.

This approach is intentionally flexible and realistic. There’s room for snacks, treats, a dessert or an occasional meal out. Feel free to move items around to match your week.

The Recipes

  • 30 Minute tomato chicken pasta
  • 15-minute turkey stir fry
  • Veggie enchiladas
  • Slow cooker gammon
  • Vegetarian Mexican rice
  • Sweet n sour chicken
