Why Tuesday Is Perfect for One Simple Habit

Most new books and albums are released on Tuesdays; I’m not sure why, but it made today feel special because the new J.D. Robb book was waiting for me after school.

I’ve followed this series for a long time. I discovered it more than a decade ago when Nora Roberts had about ten of the books published. I found the first three in a used bookstore in Germantown, TN and immediately tore through them. I went back the next day and collected as many of the remaining titles as I could. Since then I’ve waited patiently for her twice-yearly releases, which in recent years have come in February and September. I usually finish each novel in a single night, though this time I fell asleep before the ending.

After I finish this new release, I plan to reread a few favorites from the more than thirty books in the series. It’s that good. The novels follow a New York police officer through her cases and daily life in a future 2058 and beyond. The futuristic details took me a couple of books to get used to, but they never felt far-fetched—more like an extension of present trends.

Before I started reading, I put together a quick dinner. I baked salmon with chipotle and cinnamon, roasted sweet potatoes, and sautéed asparagus. It was simple, satisfying, and something I could happily eat every night.

All in all, Tuesday turned out to be a good day: a new book to read, a tasty dinner, and four easy miles of running. I couldn’t ask for much more.
