Our original storybook theme didn’t go as planned, so midweek we switched to a 4th of July theme. I have a growing list of quick, easy, and fun patriotic crafts and recipes we’re trying. This simple project quickly became one of the kids’ favorites.
I had Jay paint craft sticks alternating red and white. Once they were dry, we arranged and glued them onto cardstock to form the stripes of a flag.
I didn’t get a photo of this step, but I masked a square in the upper-left corner and let the kids paint it blue. For stars we used strips of rhinestones—easy, sparkly, and safe for little hands.
At the last minute we glued small magnets to the back and turned the pieces into festive flag magnets—perfect for displaying on the fridge or giving as simple, homemade gifts.
I’m also excited to share that I now have a Facebook page and a follow button. I’d love for you to follow along—I’ll be posting sneak peeks of current projects, sharing inspiring crafts I find around the web, and connecting with others who enjoy crafting.
