Ingredients

  • 250 g cream cheese (light or full fat)
  • 28 Oreo cookies (about 2 standard packets)
  • 200 g chocolate for coating (dark, milk or white chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos into a fine crumb using a food processor, or place them in a sealed bag and crush with a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Combine the Oreo crumbs with the cream cheese in a bowl and mix until thoroughly combined and smooth. Using your hands works well to achieve an even texture.
  3. Shape the mixture into small balls, roughly 1 inch (2–3 cm) in diameter, and arrange them on a plate or tray lined with non-stick paper.
  4. Freeze the balls for 10–15 minutes to firm them up. This helps them keep their shape when you coat them in chocolate.
  5. While the truffles chill, gently melt the chocolate. Use a microwave in short bursts, stirring between intervals, or melt over a bain-marie until smooth and warm.
  6. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate to coat, or pour chocolate over them to cover. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the truffle back on the lined tray.
  7. Return the coated truffles to the fridge until the chocolate has fully set.
  8. Optional: melt about 50 g white chocolate and transfer to a small plastic bag. Snip a tiny corner and drizzle over each truffle for a decorative finish.
